Homemade Salad Dressing Recipes

Roasted-Garlic and Buttermilk Salad Dressing Makes about 1 3/4 cups
2 heads of garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup buttermilk
7 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1/2teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

How To Roast Garlic
Preheat oven to 400°F. Cut top 1/2 inch off heads of garlic, exposing cloves. Place each on square of foil. Drizzle with oil, then enclose in foil. Place on oven rack; bake until garlic is tender, about 45 minutes. Open foil; cool garlic slightly.


Hold 1 head of garlic, cut side down, over medium bowl and squeeze, releasing roasted garlic pulp into bowl. Repeat with remaining garlic. Mash until smooth. Whisk in mayonnaise, buttermilk, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Additional Ideas and Uses For Roasted Garlic:

Soups: The cloves are so soft that they melt into pureed soups with only a little bit of stirring.
Sauces: In a small bowl, blend one tablespoon of roasted garlic with one tablespoon of butter and mix into the pan juice of any roast.
Mayonnaise: Mix a few roasted garlic cloves into plain mayonnaise.
Butter: Mash a few roasted garlic gloves into soften butter.



Orange sesame dressing
  • 2 tbsp dark roasted sesame oil
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 2 tbsp  (plum) vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp grain mustard
  • 1 tsp  (soy sauce)
  • 1 tbsp  ginger juice
  • ¼ cup sweet onion, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup toasted sesame seeds
This is great for Asian-inspired salads such as chilled noodles,also on grilled  tilapia or crispy snow peas.
Place all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk at high speed. Allow to sit, letting all the great flavors combine before using on your salad. Sprinkle with lite sweet onions and sesame seeds


Cilantro Orange Creamy Dressing

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup  sour cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons finely chopped cilantro
1 garlic clove, minced
2 red onions, chopped 1/4 cup
1 tablespoon apple-cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon orange zest
1/4 cup chopped orange pieces, peeled and seeds removed
1/2 tablespoon honey
You can also add walnuts and or raisins.

Place all the ingredients into a blender and pulse until well combined, refrigerate.
